Tangy fruit salad
Bright, tart, crunchy, pretending to be casual

Oranges with apples, persimmons, pears, or Asian pears, dressed with lemon, salt, pepper, optional Aleppo or sumac, and a little olive oil.
Ingredients
- 2 oranges, peel and pith removed, thinly sliced
- 1 to 1 1/2 pounds apples, persimmons, pears, and/or Asian pears, thinly sliced
- 1 lemon, halved
- Kosher salt and black pepper
- Aleppo-style pepper, optional
- Sumac, optional
- Olive oil, for drizzling
Instructions
- Arrange the fruit. Layer the oranges and sliced apples, persimmons, and/or pears on a platter or in a shallow bowl.
- Dress it. Squeeze the lemon over the fruit and season with salt, pepper, and Aleppo pepper or sumac if using.
- Finish. Drizzle with olive oil just before serving.
Best assembled at the last possible minute so the fruit stays glossy and sharp instead of getting sleepy.
