Asian honey garlic shrimp
Sticky, sweet-savory, and faster than takeout

Shrimp get dusted in a seasoned cornstarch coating, pan-fried until bouncy and crisp-edged, then tossed in a glossy honey garlic glaze and finished with green onion and sesame seeds.
Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds shrimp, peeled
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper
- 1 tablespoon neutral oil or butter
- Honey garlic glaze ingredients, as desired, including honey, garlic, and soy sauce
- Green onion and sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Season the coating. Mix the cornstarch with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Dust the shrimp. Coat the shrimp with the cornstarch mixture and shake off any excess.
- Pan-fry. Heat the oil or butter in a pan over medium-high heat. Cook the shrimp for 1 to 2 minutes per side, then transfer out of the pan.
- Make the glaze. Add the glaze ingredients to the pan and let them simmer for about 30 seconds.
- Toss together. Return the shrimp to the pan and toss over high heat for 1 to 2 minutes, until glossy and coated.
- Serve. Garnish with green onion and sesame seeds, and serve with rice, noodles, or whatever sounds good.
